Module 6
After a lifetime of absorbing messages about what’s thought of as “normal,” or a “right way of being”, many Autistic people carry internalised ableism without even realising it.
For example, you may find yourself apologising for your communication style, or pushing through sensory overwhelm because you’ve learned that struggling is something to hide.
This final module helps you identify and challenge those beliefs, build self-advocacy skills, and step into your Autistic identity with more confidence.
What This Module Covers
- What internalised ableism looks like and where it comes from
- Recognising ableist beliefs you may have absorbed
- Reframing your narrative — from deficit to difference
- Self-advocacy fundamentals: knowing your rights and speaking up
- Practical tools for advocating in healthcare, work, and daily life
- Moving forward with confidence and community
