Module 4
Monotropism — explains the tendency for Autistic (and ADHD) people to have their attention pulled more strongly towards a smaller number of interests at any given time, leaving fewer resources for other processes.
This theory is increasingly recognised as a core feature of the Autistic experience. This module explores how Autistic attention works, why it matters, and how to work with (rather than against) your natural attention style.
What This Module Covers
- What monotropism is and why it matters
- The power of flow states and deep interests
- Attention tunnels — when focus becomes a challenge
- Practical strategies for task switching and transitions
- Working with your attention style in everyday life
